It’s not so surprising that there are evident changes in the environment that continually affects us nowadays. Real Estate in Dubai as we know today has adapted to these environmental changes too by creating communities that promote clean and green living. In the same way, we must also do our part in making our home a clean place to live. What I mean to say is that, we must be mindful about that way we run our homes. How can we save energy, money, and the environment all in one? Here are a few tips on how you can become energy-efficient at home.

Switch to LED Lights. If your fluorescent or incandescent light gives you just the right amount of light to brighten up your home, LED Lights provide the same but saves you up energy consumption. By using LED, you use up more than 50% less energy. The light also lasts 25 times longer compared to the usual lights we have in our homes. Make sure to clean and repair regularly. You don’t need to change appliances every single time there seems to be wrong. Cleaning methods such as replacing filters, defrosting your fridge regularly, and dusting of light sources can greatly affect the energy-efficiency of your home. If these appliances take good care of you and your home, might as well take good care of them in order to keep them performing at their best.

Always be mindful of the use of your appliances. We are all guilty of charging our mobile phones or gadgets overnight. This is not an energy-efficient practice. Our gadgets take up only a few hours to charge so it pays to monitor such devices. Don’t over work your lights. Especially when you have large windows where enough sunlight passes through during the day, you should make use of it to save energy. It is also a given fact that refrigerators and freezers are more energy-efficient when it’s fully stacked. As much as possible, fill it up with just the right amount of items. However, putting up too much will affect the performance of these appliances. Never leave your computer and ventilation fans running if you will not be using them. Computers consume and emit a lot of energy while ventilation fans affect the IAQ (Indoor Air Quality) because it replaces the air inside with the outside.

Saving the environment doesn’t require a lot of effort to be achieved. With small amounts of initiative, we are able to contribute to produce a clean and green environment. We only have one planet where we can live and exist. So let us do our best efforts to transform the world into a livable place by making our homes environment friendly.
